Juliet Cook doesn't fit inside an Easy-Bake Oven and rarely cooks.
She does write poetry.
Her poetry has appeared in a peculiar multitude of literary publications.
Cook's tiny independent press, Blood Pudding Press, sometimes publishes hand-designed poetry chapbooks and sometimes creates other art, such as abstract painting collage art hybrid creatures.
Blood Pudding Press's spooky little sister is an online blog style literary magazine called Thirteen Myna Birds.

NEW! I have Four New Poems in Cul-de-sac of Blood!
I am extremely delighted to have FOUR NEW POEMS appearing within Cul-de-sac of Blood!
Here's the editors description of my poems - The orbitoclast, a tiny hammerhead shark tap tapping us into place. “I was walking through a parking lot” leads us inevitably, somehow, to “I wasn’t sure if I was human anymore.” A standard red horror. In these poems by frequent contributor Juliet Cook, medically-induced terror finds us where we live.
Here's a few lines from my poem "I Don't Like Primary Colors" -
"Little ghost tongues
try to splash out
of the water,
then slash themselves
into skulls,
marooned.
Sink back down."
And here's where you can read all four poems! - https://www.culdesacofblood.com/juliet-cook-2
Also, underneath the four poems, you can click on a link to learn a little more about the poems, such as what inspired them.

Another NEW (Mini) Review of Juliet Cook's newest poetry chap., "Your Mouth Is Moving Backwards"!
"This is art of the bizarre and the horrific, and yet it’s strangely beautiful in its vulnerability."
Thank you very much to James Lawson Moore for his mini-review (and photo) of my newest poetry chapbook, "Your Mouth Is Moving Backwards" (published by Ethel Zine & Micro-Press in December 2023).

"Juliet’s new chapbook is a limited run, handmade release, out by Ethel Zine & Micro Press. The poems therein are as much influenced by Twin Peaks as they are by the poet’s own inner turmoil. This is art of the bizarre and the horrific, and yet it’s strangely beautiful in its vulnerability. This is a book that cannot be missed.
Juliet Cook is JLM approved, with a bottle of Coke."

A NEW BOOK ESSAY REVIEW of Juliet Cook's newest poetry chap., "Your Mouth Is Moving Backwards"!
"Bob is first a noun, a person dissected—and, not by coincidence, also an evil spirit out of Twin Peaks—then the word becomes a verb as the subject dives under the surface. Words like “core” and “bleed” explode with ambiguity. Finally, we interrogate the scene from an external perspective and unravel a multiplicity of meanings and hidden reality behind the curtain of previous images. The poems of Your Mouth is Moving Backwards are ceaseless in their symbolic excavation, constantly diving below the surface."

Also appearing in the Winter 2024 Issue of Misfit Magazine is a review of my poetry chapbook, Contorted Doom Conveyor (Gutter Snob Books, 2023)!
Thank you very much to Alan Catlin for this uniquely wonderful review!
"So how do you know you are in the crazy world of Juliet Cook? Just step onto the doom conveyor belt and you enter a world of dolls, pieces of them, whole ones, effigies, doll graveyards, of a sort, and well just about anything you can think of short of Anne’s porcelain doll collection (Anne as in Anne Rice who famously collected some pretty scary ones). Basically, Juliet’s world is one of hallucinatory conjunctions, Bob Dylan surreality from his early Rimbaud infused years, sick bags, like Nick Cave, free floating dread like being in a David Cronenberg movie, watching a “Naked Lunch” while lying on Freud’s couch ( Sigmund or Lucien’s, take your pick), under the influence of a peyote dream, high flying whiles suffering new pill side effects. Juliet’s voice is decidedly and uniquely her own. I love it."

Happy End of 2023! My Three New Poetry Chapbooks in 2023!

Then the doll gave birth
to another headless crustacean
and another, and another and yet another ad infinitum."

NEW! Two individual poems by Juliet Cook and one collaborative poem
by Cook and j/j hastain are now appearing in the new Spring 2023 Issue of Misfit Magazine!
"The next time you assume
that I worship the same way as you,
all the wall hangings will violently crash,
all the splayed remnants will come back to life
in different incarnations. Thirteen mice
you killed without thinking twice
will emerge from my mouth, convulsing,
convoluted, hurling into screaming incantations,
their tiny skulls temporarily paralyzing you,
so that you can't keep on ignoring me."
(in Juliet Cook's poem "Thirteen Mice")
Cook is delighted to have three poems included in the NEW Issue No. 36, Spring 2023 of the fabulous Misfit Magazine!
Two new individual poems and one collaboration by j/j hastain and Juliet Cook!
Thank you very much to editor Alan Catlin and all the other poets involved!
Part of Catlin's Introduction to Misfit 36 - "To combat this free form absurdity, malaise, dread, etc. is why we write and read poetry. We have a wide, eclectic range of poets representing all kinds of diversity in voice, tone, and intent. There are the deeply personal poetry of sexual assault to the wildly experimental of Cook and hastain with a little bit of everything else in between."

NEW! Delighted to have SIX NEW POEMS appearing within A Thin Slice of Anxiety!
"The mold specialist sneaks inside
my home and inspects my toilets.
She wants me to mold myself
into her tiny bed or underneath her.
In her mind, there's not enough space

She wants to replace my poetry
with baby diapers to cover up most of the shit
that spews out of my dirty words."

Lost, Long Gone, Forgotten Records features me reading two of my poems with creepy sound effects!
Thank you very much to Drew Coomer's Lost, Long Gone, Forgotten Records for featuring me reading two of my poems - "Red Glass Ceiling" and one of my Flesh World poems in LLGFR #36!
I love the sound effects he surrounded the poems with including the Red Room/Black Lodge phonetics in Flesh World! I also love the red stop light cover art!

An Interview with me about poetry stuff, conducted by Michael Sikkema, appearing in periodicities!
"To express rather than repress. To explore my own thoughts and feelings. To extract some of the negativity out of my system. To release parts of my own repetitive streaks. To blow up my own self-created mental balloon animals. To reveal parts of the real me. To possibly connect my thoughts and feelings with others who might relate."
Me answering some interesting poetry questions from Michael Sikkema - and the interview was published by rob mclennan at periodicities : a journal of poetry and poetics.

Poet Spotlight: Juliet Cook on dolls, body, and uncomfortable poetry
"In some ways, some parts of society view and treat girls/women like dolls, with implications that our faces and bodies are more appealing than our brains. In other ways, some people find some dolls to be creepy and scary and disturbing. In other ways, most dolls stay the same size and shape for their entire existence and can only be changed by how they’re dressed or made up — unless you actually rip a doll apart and put it back together in a different way. I think I try to incorporate elements of all these aspects of dolls in my poetry."
I have an Interview up today, focused on my poetry chapbook, "DARK PURPLE INTERSECTIONS (inside my Black Doll Head Irises)" and lots of other poetry stuff too.
Thank you very much to Andrea Blythe for including me in her Poet Spotlight!
